Gouache on hot pressed 100% cotton paper
This painting was a photo taken at one of my favourite places to visit when I am on Vancouver Island with family. There are these beautiful Arbutus trees dotted around the area. There is just a small pocket of ideal regions this tree can grow, it is an evergreen tree with rich orange-red bark that when mature, naturally peels away in thin sheets, leaving a greenish, silvery appearance that has a satin sheen and smoothness. It is Canada's only native broad-leaved evergreen tree.
